Retinal tears
When a significant tear in the retina occurs (1), we perform "tack down" laser around the tear. The "tack down" laser is performed in the office and takes 20 minutes. The purpose of the laser is to prevent the retinal tear from causing a retinal detachment, which would then require extensive surgery.
We will usually re-check you in the office 1-2 weeks after the laser.
